Protocol of interrogation with Svensson, Jan-Åke,

Svensson is heard as a witness regarding the murder of Prime Minister Palme on 28 February 1986 at 23:15. Interrogation leader, Monica Andersson. Interrogation witness not available. The interrogation began at 11:30.
Svensson states that he at the time, he states that he did not note the time himself but has since been told the time.

He says he knows approximately what time it was and can specify it to 23:00-23:30. He had stopped his car on Sveavägen in the left lane at the Sveavägen-Tunnel-gatan intersection and was about to turn down onto Tunnelgatan. He was alone at the time and the traffic lights were red and Svensson stood for a while waiting for the signals.

He then heard a shot. He says that he perceived the sound as if it could be a shot and had not noticed anything special in the surroundings before that. When Svensson looks up, he sees three people standing on the sidewalk at the Sveavägen-Tunnel-gatan intersection.

At the same time, another shot is fired and the man standing in the middle of the three people collapses. From Svensson's point of view, a woman is standing to the left of the person who was shot and a man to the right of the person who was shot. Directly or immediately after the second shot is fired, the man leaves the scene running east along Tunnelgatan.

Svensson states that he never saw any weapon in the man's hand. What he saw was a bullet or, more accurately, he saw smoke on the ground a short distance from the victim towards the roadway, which he also showed to investigative technicians.
