Jan passed the crime scene in the case in direct connection with the crime. He was a passenger in a car driven by his friend Leif Ljung-kvist, who also provided information for a detective tip. Jan completely shares the view in all important respects with his friend Leif, with a few exceptions.

Jan says: When they hear the gunshots, Leif turns around in a taxi lane on Sveavägen and they stop right next to the man who later turned out to be Prime Minister Olof Palme. Sadly, Leif stopped the car so that an existing pole obscured the view up Tunnelgatan towards Regeringsgatan.

However, Jan managed to see the perpetrator run in the aforementioned longitudinal direction. While Leif was watching Mrs. Palme, Jan instead observed a man who immediately took refuge in a nearby gate in connection with the crime. This man's behavior seemed mysterious to Jan and he got the impression that he was either completely shocked or strongly influenced by something.

Therefore, Jan did not let this man out of his sight until a female police officer made contact with the man and began to record information. Jan is absolutely certain that the man must have seen most of the crime himself,
According to Jan, this man was wearing a blue half-length jacket with a hood.

He estimates the person who Jan perceived as the perpetrator and ran down Tunnelgatan towards Regeringsgatan to be about 40 years old. He was wearing dark clothes and Jan is also certain that he was wearing a black knee-length outer coat that fluttered when the man ran just as if it had been unbuttoned. He was also black-haired and bare-headed.

When asked if Jan saw any weapons, the answer is no.
